Jennifer Garner was born on 17 April 1972 at Houston, Texas but was born to be raised in Charleston, West Virginia. Her father, William John Garner, worked as a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. The mother of her Patricia Ann taught at a local college. Following in the footsteps of her father she completed a degree in chemical engineering. Since she wanted to be an actor, she moved to New York. When she was not appearing in Broadway shows, she worked as waitress. On the television series "Felicity," she had a small cameo. (It was on this show that she became acquainted with their husband Scott Foley. Garner was a star in her romantic comedic film "13 Going on 30" in which she played an teen trapped inside a 30 year-old's body. Garner chose Gary Winick for the role as director. Both actors continued working with each other on various projects when Winick's death in the year 2011. Garner was appointed ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in the year 2009. The role includes promoting national literacy, nutrition, and early childhood education. Garner is a board member for this nonprofit organization since 2014. She is a proponent of early preschool education. She is an ambassador and often meets with families who are part of the group's Early Steps to School Success program, which coaches parents on ways to support youngsters learn.
