April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) started her journey in music as a 7th grader when she took guitar and piano classes. When she was 12 years old, April composed her first single Different. When April was 14 years old, she devoted the majority of her time making song concepts as well as perfecting the song. The following months, she started taking writing excursions along with her father on trips to LA and NY. April began to include additional relevant subjects into the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some acquaintances, including peer pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart is a partner at famous cosmetics brand Ilia and also is a lifestyle blogger with her own growing following. Since she was born without a left hand, the woman has a significant part to play in her. It's however not her entire story. Because of this, her Instagram account does not shy away from her disability, but it doesn't center around it neither. It's a message. That we all contain multitudes that our identities are complex and we're more than our physical selves. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her physical disability. She does not want to become a disability advocate who only speaks about it. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. This doesn't influence my day-to-day activities. I conduct doing my job as normal and have found my own methods to adjust. This is a major part of my life, therefore it's important that we talk about it. Lockhart has served as an excellent inspiration to her fellow women with regards to acceptance of oneself. She admits that she has gone through periods of feeling insecure about her physique and being uncomfortable in certain clothes which exposed her arms. She now wears any outfit she wishes and shares pictures on Facebook with pride. Self-love, according to her, is like a journey. "I do not think that you'll ever get there," she said. But, this isn't common for anyone who has insecurities. I believe having friends around you who really understand you and can see your feelings is crucial because they'll be the people who remind you What are you concerned about?
